There are many different styles of loading ramps on the market today. Here are a few guides to help you choose the ramp that suits your needs best.
Lawn & Garden Tractors:
We recommend a pair of arched runners or folding arched
runners that will provided adequate clearance of the mowing deck as the mower loads into the truck. Folding arched runners will give more storage options.
Quads etc:
We recommend runners, bi-fold ramps, and tri-fold
ramps. The difference in these ramps styles is primarily
a personal choice decision. The runners have the advantage of being more versatile, since they will also load a mower.
Motorcycles:
We recommend single runners or specialty ramps designed especially for large motorcycles. DO NOT USE BI-FOLD OR TRI-FOLD RAMPS TO LOAD MOTORCYCLES.
The weight distribution over two, rather than four wheels is a significant factor, and the ramps are designed to carry the load differently.
Heavy Duty Loading Ramps:
Obviously, weight capacity is the critical factor. Know
how much weight is distributed to each tyre of the vehicle
being loaded and select a ramp to accommodate the
weight distribution.
Width of Ramp:
The width of the ramp must accommodate the full width of the measurement from outside of tyre to outside of tyre. For runners, the width should be at least as wide as the
tyre.
Length of Ramp:
We recommend AT LEAST 2.2inches of length for each
inch of height.
For Example, to load equipment into a 30 inch truck
bed height you should have a ramp at least 66 inches
long because 30” x 2.2” = 66” Ramp Length Needed
This is a steep grade and safety instructions should be
reviewed and SAFETY STRAPS SHOULD ALWAYS BE USED.
If there is any doubt GET A LONGER RAMP.
Are you still unsure?
You should always consult with the dealer selling you
the ramp. They can help answer any questions you may
have.
